Choose the person before the theme
For grandparents, a clear family photograph or a small selection of meaningful moments may be enough. For a friend, an inside joke can carry the design. For someone devoted to a pet, use a photo where the animal's face and markings are easy to recognise.
A hobby-led design is another direction: a favourite garden, holiday view or creative interest can feel personal without requiring a portrait. If you want a Christmas reference, decide whether it should dominate the mug or appear as a small message alongside a year-round design.
Keep a collage selective
Choose photographs that tell different parts of the story, rather than many similar images. Faces need enough space to remain recognisable. A few strong pictures are often easier to arrange clearly than a large collection, especially when you also want names or a message.
Ask family members for original files rather than saving images from a shared social post. Keep a record of which photo belongs to which recipient. If several people are receiving different mugs, label the versions clearly so images and messages are not accidentally mixed during preparation.
Organise group gifts as a small project
For a workplace or extended family order, nominate one person to collect names, confirm quantities and approve artwork. Set your own earlier deadline for contributions. The supplier's production window cannot account for relatives or colleagues who have not yet sent their photos.
Clarify whether the order goes to one address for distribution or needs another arrangement. Mention presentation and packing requirements when requesting a quote. Do not assume individual gift boxes, multiple destinations or wrapping are included until those details have been confirmed.

Wotta Mug's standard production time is 7–10 business days after artwork approval, with shipping additional. The current mug is 11 oz ceramic, orders start at one and delivery is available Australia-wide. Christmas delivery cutoffs depend on the actual order and destination; this guide does not promise a seasonal deadline. Enquire early with your postcode and required arrival date, allowing time for artwork decisions and your own wrapping or onward travel before Christmas.
